Paul McCartney fans ‘vow to skip tour’ after spotting one detail
Sir Paul McCartney is set to tour the US for the first time since 2022, but one detail about the latest spate of gigs has left fans reeling – with even die-hard fans claiming they may give the shows a miss
Fans of the legendary Beatles songwriter Sir Paul McCartney were left stunned after spotting a detail about his upcoming tour. The former Fab Four member will perform a string of date across North America, his first shows since a triple bill of surprise dates in New York City earlier this year.
His three performances at The Bowery were sold out in seconds, and now a wider tour is set to take place. But fans have been left stumped after they spotted the ticket prices for McCartney’s gigs. Screenshots of unsold Ticketmaster seats have gone viral on social media as those who want to attend simply cannot afford to.
One infuriated X user wrote: “$450+ for a seat behind the stage or $575 for an upper deck ticket for an 83-year-old Paul McCartney?” “These Paul McCartney ticket prices are f**king insane,” lamented another following the news of the upcoming tour.
The living legend has not performed in the US on a headline tour since 2022. McCartney – who headlined the UK’s legendary Glastonbury Festival just a week and a half after his ‘Got Back’ tour on this side of the Atlantic came to an end – has not performed a stadium show in the States since.
But he will be performing across November this year, and fans who can afford the eye-watering prices are in for a treat. Some say they were “surprised” at the expensive tickets, and took to the r/PaulMcCartney subreddit to share their thoughts.
One user wrote: “I’m very surprised/disappointed by the ticket prices. I expected a hefty fee but not this. Saw Paul in Knoxville in 2022 for 275$ for decent seats, and I bought them three weeks before the show.
“I didn’t see any in that price range for the ATL presale. I’m sorry for the ones who haven’t seen Paul before and have been priced out. Perhaps better luck at the general sell. Hope you all have a good day despite disappointment.”
Another user shared their awful experience waiting for tickets, deciding in the end to pass on the performance.
They wrote: “Got up to the front of the queue – had the opportunity to buy two terrible seats at the back of the arena for over $1000.
“No goddamn thank you. I saw him in Boston a couple years back and paid less than half that for both seats. I’ll cherish those memories as opposed to throwing away that much money for a better view on YouTube.”
A third added: “I’m gonna take the money I would have spent on ridiculously expensive and crappy seats and go to Liverpool instead. Bucket list item since I’ve seen SPM a few times and those memories will have to sustain.”
One listener who had seen McCartney perform several times has dubbed the pricing “absurd”. They wrote: “I saw Paul three times between 2009 and 2014.
“I always had decent seats and I don’t think I ever paid more than 150. These prices are just absurd.”
