“Ricky Hatton D.i.e.s at 46: Boxing Legend’s Shocking Passing Stuns Fans Days After Sharing Running Video”

The world of sport and entertainment has been rocked by the sudden death of Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton at the age of 46.

The former world champion boxer, who appeared on the final series of Dancing On Ice in 2024, was discovered at his home in Gee Cross on Sunday morning (September 14). Police confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Greater Manchester Police released a statement saying: “We can confirm that we have found a body at an address on Bowlacre Road in Gee Cross at 6.45am today, Sunday, September 14. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Concerns had reportedly been raised the night before, when Ricky failed to attend an event involving one of his fighters. Just two days earlier, the Manchester icon had shared a video of himself jogging on a treadmill, captioning it: “Evening run in the bag. Don’t your worry about that our kid.” That post has now turned into a heartbreaking tribute wall, with fans leaving their condolences.

Tributes poured in from the boxing world and beyond. Piers Morgan wrote on X: “RIP Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, 46. Found dead at his home in Manchester, police say no suspicious circumstances. What incredibly sad news.” One fan added: “God bless you Ricky, Manchester’s finest.” Another wrote: “So very very sad. Far too young. Thinking of his kids.”

Hatton, who was open about his battles with mental health and drug addiction, survived suicide attempts and reconciled with his family after years of estrangement.

He was a father of three – Campbell, Millie and Fearne. Campbell followed his father into boxing, while Millie and Fearne are from his 11-year relationship with Jennifer Dooley. Ricky had previously dated Playboy model Chelsea Claire and, more recently, actress Claire Sweeney, whom he met on Dancing On Ice. The pair split in December 2024 but remained friends.

His family has yet to release a statement, but friends and fans continue to share memories of a fighter whose legacy stretched far beyond the ring.
