Emmerdale viewers have been left divided after watching Mack and Aaron in tonight’s episode.

As viewers of the ITV soap will know, newbie John Sugden made his first appearance in the village last week following a night of passion with Aaron. The new Sugden bumped into Victoria Sugden at his mum’s funeral, where it was revealed that he was in fact Victoria’s secret half-brother.

John said he wanted nothing to do with Victoria “after living 35 years without her”, but after his van broke down he was forced to return to the village and see his long lost sister once again.

As Mack Boyd and Aaron Dingle tended to John’s van at the garage, it was revealed that Aaron and John had in fact spent the night together, and Aaron learned that he had slept with his ex-husband’s brother.

In tonight’s episode, John discovered that his van had gone missing from the garage – just as he was about to leave the village. Realising that Aaron and Mack must be the culprits, John fumed to Victoria saying “they have no idea what they’re dealing with”.

An angry John then tracked down Aaron and Mack in the cafe, where they teased him about the whereabouts of the vehicle and accused him of interrupting their morning coffee and cake date. This only made John’s mood worse and he lashed out at Mack. He picked him up and threatened to “snap him in half” if he didn’t reveal the vehicle’s whereabouts.

Aware that John was becoming increasingly aggressive, the duo agreed to take him to the van, where it was revealed that they had pushed it into the lake and it had sunk. John fumed, saying the joke “wasn’t funny” and that “his entire life was in the van”. As the episode came to a close, John threatened Aaron that “there would be payback”.

The “joke” left viewers of the show divided, with some saying they “loved” Mack and Aaron’s dynamic, while others branded their behaviour “juvenile”. On X, formerly known as Twitter, @CocacolakidJ said: “Loving Aaron and Mac’s double act against miserable John. #emmerdale.”
