What to know about “The Impossible Dream” and Sydnie Christmas

“The Impossible Dream” is one of musical theatre’s most enduring ballads, originally from the 1965 production Man of La Mancha. Its timeless message of resilience and hope has made it a favorite for powerhouse vocalists — and Sydnie Christmas’s version is no exception.

Performed live at Sony Hall in New York, her take on the song channels both grit and grace, reminding audiences of her uncanny ability to merge emotional storytelling with technical brilliance.

Following her show-stopping win on Britain’s Got Talent, Christmas has been making waves in both the UK and international theatre scenes. After captivating audiences as Cruella De Vil in the West End, the Kent-born singer is now setting her sights on another iconic role — Sally Bowles in Cabaret.

In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Christmas revealed, “A lot of my dream roles probably won’t come back on the West End, which is a shame as they’re quite old-fashioned. But something that I would really love to do is Cabaret — I would just love to try my hand at Sally Bowles. I’m always trying to feed the universe what I want — it’s the power of positive thinking.”

Before she steps into the Kit Kat Klub, Christmas will return to the West End stage for lyricist Don Black’s upcoming show, From The Heart, opening at the Fortune Theatre on October 26 with a return engagement on November 2.

She’s also hard at work on her debut album of original songs — a project that promises to reveal a more personal and contemporary side of her artistry. “I’ve been writing songs since I was 14,” she shared. “It’s nice to approach songwriting as an adult and see what I have to say… and funny enough, I have a lot to say.”

From live theatre to original music, Sydnie Christmas is on an unstoppable rise — and with every note she sings, she continues to redefine what it means to dream the impossible dream.
