After her standout performance in 101 Dalmatians, Sydnie Christmas shared how much she enjoyed stepping into the role of Cruella de Vil.
The actress described the character as “completely wild” — something she connected with naturally. Instead of copying Glenn Close’s version, Sydnie focused on finding her own interpretation of Cruella, though she admitted the Oscar winner remained a strong inspiration.
She revealed that while she didn’t get to keep the full costume, she was allowed to take home Cruella’s boots as a memento. “I really wanted to frame the outfit, but they’ve kept it in storage for future productions,” she said with a laugh.
Sydnie also reflected on the fun energy backstage, praising her co-stars Jeff Bria and Aston Merrygold for their humor and creativity. “It was constant laughter. Watching Jeff grow in confidence and Aston’s natural comic energy made every day exciting,” she recalled.
Preparing for Her Next West End Show
Following her tour success, Sydnie is now preparing for a brand-new West End production — one she promises will be “an upgrade” in every way. The show will be filmed for PBS in the United States, marking another milestone in her growing international career.
She revealed plans to include fresh material to surprise returning audiences: “I’ve added new songs that people haven’t heard before. It’s always about making it different and better.”
When it comes to song choices, Sydnie takes a strategic approach. Rather than following social media trends, she picks songs that align with her long-term goals. “If I want to be in a certain musical, I’ll perform a medley from it — it’s my way of planting the seed for future opportunities,” she said.
Known for her glittering stage style, Sydnie laughed about her dual personality — a self-described “tomboy” who transforms into a glamorous performer under the spotlight. “Off stage I’m all jeans and trainers, but on stage, I love the sparkle and stepping into that confident version of myself,” she shared.
Looking Ahead: Original Album and a Touch of Christmas Magic
Sydnie confirmed she’s now working on her first original album after previously releasing a covers collection. Writing has been part of her life since childhood, but she says it feels special to finally share her own stories. “I’m discovering what I want to say and what my sound really is,” she explained. “People know me from musical theatre, but that’s not all I am.”
Her songwriting draws heavily from her personal life and experiences. “It’s easier to write about what you’ve lived through, and I think honesty helps people connect to your music,” she added.
Sydnie also teased a possible Christmas EP featuring original holiday tracks and perhaps even a shot at the UK Christmas No. 1. “That’s the dream,” she smiled. “It might take a few years, but you’ve got to keep trying.”
Despite her busy schedule, Sydnie still finds time to relax with reality shows like Love Is Blind and thrillers such as Hostage. She also remains close with former Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who continues to support her career.
With a growing fan base of over 200,000 followers on Instagram and an ever-expanding list of projects, Sydnie Christmas is proving that her rise to stardom is only just beginning.
