After her Netflix show is cancelled, sources reveal that Amanda Holden has turned to her BFF to rebuild

Her golden TV career had appeared to be soaring – but there was some shock news for Amanda Holden when her prized Netflix dating show, Cheat: Unfinished Business, was axed from the platform after just one season.
And now, after Amanda was recently joined by fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon on her family summer holiday in Corfu, sources tell Closer that the women have been leaning on one another.
Singer Alesha, 46, has also had a tumultuous time of late, after it was reported in March that she and long-term partner Azuka Ononye, 44, had split up at the end of 2024 after 18 years together. But the couple – who are parents to daughters Azura, 11, and Anaya, five – are believed to have rekindled.
Our insider says, ‘Being dumped from Netflix has been a huge blow for Amanda, and it cast a bit of a shadow over her summer. To see the show cancelled so soon was a massive knock, and naturally it has impacted her confidence a little bit. Amanda has leaned heavily on Alesha as she rebuilds. She’s a real pal and they confide in each other a hell of a lot. Amanda has really been there for Alesha lately, when she was having issues in her marriage.’
While Amanda – who recently enjoyed a luxe getaway with her husband Chris Hughes and their daughters Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13 – might have suffered a knock with Cheat’s axing, she isn’t short of work. Her biggest gigs are Britain’s Got Talent – where she has served on the judging panel since its first series in 2007 – and her weekday radio breakfast show.
But our insider says that Amanda, 54, was hoping that Cheat – which she co-hosted with Celebs Go Dating expert Paul C. Brunson – could have spring-boarded her to other projects. ‘It’s a massive shame, because her main ambition right now is to establish herself as a presenter in her own right,’ the source shares.
‘She’s desperate to be seen as someone who can stand on her own two feet and to front a project successfully like Davina [McCall] or Holly [Willoughby].’
Along with Alesha, the insider adds that Amanda’s husband of 17 years, Chris, has been a huge support. ‘It’s been tough dealing with the fallout from the Netflix disappointment, but Amanda tries to keep her work and family life separate,’ the source explains.
‘She remains fiercely ambitious and determined, but her family mean so much to her. They will always come first, no matter what happens.’
