“I DON’T NEED TO SING THE PAST — I COME TO REWRITE HISTORY.” The crowd erupted when Richard Goodall — the gatekeeper who once brought America to tears — made a surprise return. But this time, he didn’t sing a cover. He brought an original song, a punch straight to the stereotype that “winners only sing other people’s songs.” No fireworks, no elaborate set design — just a voice and a heart that never gives up. And when the melody rang out, the whole studio knew one thing: Richard wasn’t just back… he was on the throne.

His talent and his lovable personality kept him soaring through the competition, all the way to the finals, where his final performance was with Journey members, including co-founder and lead guitarist Neal Schon.

Later that night, host Terry Crews announced Richard Goodall as the winner of America’s Got Talent!
