EXCLUSIVE: Inside Princess Catherine’s Fifth Christmas Carol Service Returns: What Fans Didn’t Expect

Westminster Abbey is gearing up for the festive season as the Princess of Wales, Catherine, prepares to host her fifth annual Together at Christmas carol service on Friday, December 5, 2025. Kensington Palace has confirmed the 43-year-old royal will lead the beloved event, which has become a cherished national tradition.

The service follows a packed week for the royals, including the state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Yet, the evening’s focus remains heartfelt: celebrating love, connection, and the joy of unity.

Around 1,600 guests will fill the abbey, including royal family members and celebrities. The renowned Westminster Abbey Choir will perform classic carols, while star-studded contributions include musical acts and readings from Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith of Bastille, Oscar-winner Kate Winslet, and acclaimed actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Adding a poignant touch, young performers supported by Future Talent—a charity co-founded by the late Catherine Worley, Duchess of Kent—will entertain guests outside the abbey. Worley, who died at 92 on September 4, dedicated her life to nurturing musical talent in underprivileged children, and this tribute honors her legacy.

This year’s theme, “love in all its forms,” explores familial ties, friendships, community bonds, and even brief encounters with strangers. As Kensington Palace stated: “In a world that can often feel fragmented and disconnected, love is the force that reconnects us all, spanning generations, communities, cultures, and faiths.” The event highlights compassion, presence, and joy as transformative forces.

Echoing last year’s “kindness tree”—where guests hung red cards with gratitude messages—2025 features natural elements for warmth and renewal. Horticulturist Jamie Butterworth will design a festive outdoor display emphasizing nature’s restorative power. Inside, the Royal Horticultural Society, with ambassadors and UK schoolchildren, will craft handmade wreaths symbolizing community.

The service will air as a special on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve, with a repeat on Christmas morning, bringing its magic to homes nationwide.

As songs, laughter, and light fill Westminster Abbey, Together at Christmas reaffirms the season’s essence: connection, compassion, and shared joy—values Princess Catherine embodies with elegance and warmth.
