The grill isn’t the only thing heating up in Season 7 of BBQ Brawl. According to the newly released trailer, this season promises not just intense culinary battles — but fiery personal rivalries, unexpected dynamics, and a major shake-up that could redefine the competition.
For the first time, longtime judge Brooke Williamson steps out from behind the judging table and into the arena as a team captain. Joining her are returning captains Bobby Flay and Maneet Chauhan, setting the stage for a three-way clash that already feels more personal than ever.

From the very first moments of the trailer, the tone is clear: this is not business as usual.
“Welcome back, Maneet — or should I say reigning barbecue world champ?” Flay teases Chauhan, whose team dominated Season 6. But the real twist comes with Williamson’s arrival. “Got some new blood in the house,” Flay adds, hinting at the disruption her presence could bring.
And Williamson doesn’t shy away from the pressure.
“I’ve been wanting to get my hands dirty for years,” she says — a statement that signals both her excitement and her readiness to compete head-on with two seasoned captains.

But what truly elevates this season’s drama is the personal dynamic between the captains.
Williamson and Flay, who began dating in 2025, now find themselves on opposite sides of the battlefield. While reality TV often thrives on manufactured tension, this rivalry feels authentic — and the trailer makes it clear that their relationship won’t soften the competition.
“You’re supposed to root for me,” Flay jokes, putting his arm around Williamson.
Her response? A firm “No.”
Even Chauhan joins in on the fun, joking that the couple might be teaming up against her. “I think these lovebirds are out to get me,” she says — though the footage suggests otherwise, as Flay and Williamson are shown clashing just as fiercely with each other.
Flay himself acknowledges the shift in tone: “This season, the high heat’s not just gonna be on the grill. It’s gonna be between the captains.”
That competitive edge extends beyond the trio. Judges Carson Kressley, Adrienne Cheatham, and Season 3 winner Rashad Jones will evaluate the contestants — and they’re already stirring the pot. When asked who the biggest diva is, Williamson playfully writes “Robert William Flay,” prompting a mock-offended reaction from Flay.
Beyond the personalities, the competition itself looks as intense as ever.
Twelve pitmasters from across the U.S. and beyond will battle for the title of “Master of ‘Cue” at Star Hill Ranch. The diverse lineup includes talents like Dakari Akorede, Morgan Bolling, Edith Mattiuzzo, and Tung Nguyen, each bringing their own style and regional influences to the grill.
But with such strong personalities leading the teams, strategy and mentorship could prove just as important as cooking skill.
Flay previously revealed that Williamson had long wanted to compete as a mentor rather than judge, but timing never allowed it. Now, with their relationship adding a new layer of complexity, the rules have changed — including one key agreement: they can’t judge each other.
They can, however, compete.
And if the trailer is any indication, they fully intend to.
As BBQ Brawl returns on May 11, one thing is certain: this season won’t just test who’s the best pitmaster — it will test alliances, relationships, and egos under pressure.

Because in Season 7, the real battle isn’t just on the grill.
It’s personal.
