Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has teased two big storylines coming to our screens in the summer — with a big new stunt and another love triangle for a fan-favourite character.
Speaking to Inside Soap for the big summer preview issue, Shaw also revealed that two new characters are joining the soap soon, expanding the Tate and Sugden families.
Shaw revealed Ross Barton will have quite the unexpected fling, one that’s going to cause a fair bit of drama with Gabby Thomas, who the soap has been setting him up with recently.
“We know he loves an older woman, so there’s going to be a little dalliance between Ross and Laurel!” Shaw revealed.
“But what we’re also seeing is Gabby beginning to get a little bit smitten with Ross.
“So we’ll see how she reacts when she finds out that the other woman in Ross’ life is her stepmother!”
There’s also the other big upcoming storyline, with Shaw teasing: “We have a big summer planned with a stunt that we’re going to start shooting in a couple of weeks, which is going to be a big peak for us.
“It’s going to drop a big, massive bombshell on the village that will change lives forever, put it that way!”
