Meghan Markle has revealed that she made her first visit to the UK in an under-the-radar pit stop while returning to Los Angeles from Geneva.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, stepped out in the Swiss city over the weekend to promote the Lost Screen Memorial, which commemorates children who have lost their lives due to social media. She jetted home this week after debuting the memorial at Geneva’s Place des Nations, where she underscored the need for greater protections for children online.

The royal has now shared that, on her way back across the Atlantic, she briefly stopped over in the UK, where she received a card commemorating her recent anniversary with Prince Harry.Meghan Markle

The Duchess arrived in London on a BA flight, BA269, which stopped over at Heathrow en route to LA due to the absence of direct flights between the two cities. During the flight, she shared that she received a handwritten card from BA staff wishing her and Prince Harry a happy anniversary ahead of the occasion on Tuesday.

The card, which was posted on Instagram, read: “Dearest Harry and Meghan, Wishing you a wonderful wedding anniversary, With love, The whole British Airways family.”

She shared the letter alongside a Union Jack emoji, and thanked members of the flight crew for “all the love” she received as she made the trip back home. She wrote: “Thanks to this amazing flight crew for all the love yesterday! Appreciate all your memories and kind words.”

The picture shared by the Duchess also showed that the BA staffers had all signed the card, which was also dotted with two red love hearts.

The royal’s flight left Heathrow around 26 minutes later than scheduled, departing the airport at around 3.31pm, and bringing her back to the US by 7.25pm. The visit, while flying, was her latest to the country since 2024, when she stopped over again during her visit to Nigeria.

At the time, she was reported to have spent several hours staying at the prestigious Windsor Suite, the airport’s VIP service located at Terminal 5.

She arrived home just in time to celebrate her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry, for which she shared a host of new photos from their 2018 ceremony. The new photos, which she also posted on Instagram, were captioned: “Eight years ago today…” They were posted alongside the song “Forever Your Girl” by Paula Abdul.

Among them were one snap showing Elton John at the piano entertaining guests, with another featuring a candid shot of the couple taking their official wedding portraits.

Other photos showed Harry delivering a speech during their reception at St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle. A second Instagram post featured images showing the couple dancing at the evening Frogmore House reception, backed with the song “Land of 1000 Dances” by Wilson Pickett, to which the couple had their first dance eight years ago.
