Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel are in no rush to make it down the aisle. The couple has been engaged for two years and are still in the early stages of wedding planning.

However, the HGTV favorite shared the latest updates on their upcoming nuptials.

Jonathan, along with brother Drew Scott, opened up to Andy Cohen during their recent appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Cohen, who was filling in for the host, asked the “Property Brothers” star about wedding plans with his fiancée.

“Oh my gosh. Let me tell you. Done nothing yet,” Jonathan admitted. “Absolutely nothing yet.”

It seems, however, that Scott and Deschanel have a good reason for being in the early stages of planning.

“We, Zooey and I, I’m not gonna lie, we’re having so much fun with the kids and everything. We’ve been engaged for two years now,” Jonathan continued. “And so I gotta figure this out. But I was also thinking about it too… We’ve been talking, I’ve sort of entered this phase of my life. We have both been married before. And for us right now, I’m realizing how important your loved ones are in your circle, and how many people there are that you put all this energy in to spending time with them, asking ’em to do things. And they don’t reciprocate.”

He added, “If you, I don’t know if anyone’s noticed that there are a lot of people where you are the only one who ever asks them to do. So we’re kind of deciding, you know what, I think we want to have an intimate wedding where we just have the people who really invest in our relationship.
That’s who we want to be around.”

Jonathan Scott Gushes About Being a Stepdad

The “Celebrity IOU” star and the “New Girl” actress were first linked in August 2019, after appearing on an episode of “Carpool Karaoke” together with their famous siblings.

Their relationship progressed quickly as they made their red carpet debut and first Instagram post later that year. Jonathan proposed to Zooey during a family trip to Scotland in August 2023 and has largely taken on the role of stepfather to her children.

“I think what I love the most is that everything is so exciting for the kids. So when we’re showing them, whether it’s a new movie, whether it’s an activity, everything is so exciting,” he told Cohen.

He added, “Especially when it’s the first time, that you can relive that joy through them. – I took them bowling. I took them, ’cause they don’t know how to bowl. They’ve never done it. But we went to a bowling alley with them. And you would think this was the most amazing thing in the world. It was just hilarious to see the reaction.”

Deschanel — who was previously married to Jacob Pechenik — shares daughter Elsie Otter, 10, and son Charlie Wolf, 9, with her ex. Scott was previously married to Kelsy Ully, whom he divorced in 2013. The former couple did not have children.
