What to Know About “The Impossible Dream”

“The Impossible Dream (The Quest)” is one of the most enduring songs in musical theatre history, first appearing in the 1965 Broadway classic Man of La Mancha. The anthem of hope and perseverance has been covered by legends including Elvis Presley, Luther Vandross, and Josh Groban. Its timeless message — to fight the unbeatable foe, to reach the unreachable star — continues to inspire artists and audiences alike.

For Sydnie Christmas, the song represents more than music; it’s a reflection of her journey — from a dreamer with a powerful voice to an artist whose every note carries the weight of resilience, passion, and joy.

Directed by Nick Winston, with musical direction and arrangements by Nick Barstow, From The Heart promises an unforgettable evening of music and emotion.

As Don Black beautifully puts it: “When I spent time in New York, off-Broadway revues were the places to go. They used to sing original songs that would tear your heart out or make you laugh. Stars like Streisand, Woody Allen, Shirley MacLaine, and Doris Day started their careers off-Broadway.”

And as he adds, “A song can do more in three minutes than any other art form. From the heart they come, and to the heart they go.”
