Coronation Street’s Cassie Plummer, played by Claire Sweeney, could be heading for a shocking exit from the soap, according to avid fans.
Cassie made her dramatic entrance onto the cobbles in 2023 as Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) estranged mother and quickly stirred up some trouble.
Last year, viewers were left reeling when Cassie began poisoning Ken Barlow (Will Roache). The unlikely pair formed a friendship when Ken required care after suffering a fall and injury.
In addition to drugging Ken, Cassie also started fleecing him of his money, even going so far as to steal his credit card to make several extravagant purchases.
The truth was eventually revealed when Ken caught on to her scheme and exposed her, making Cassie public enemy number one on the famous cobbles, reports the Daily Star.
However, Ken soon forgave her, much to the dismay of his daughter Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). Adding to the drama, Cassie has also begun a romantic relationship with Tracy’s ex, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
Recently, tensions have escalated between Tracy and Cassie, especially after Cassie moved into Ken’s house and secured a job at Street Cars.
Things reached boiling point earlier this week when Cassie provoked Tracy by mentioning her past crime of killing Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward) in 2007.
In Wednesday’s episode (5 November), the feud between Cassie and Tracy escalated when Cassie found Tracy asleep on the sofa at Ken’s house after a few glasses of wine. In a ruthless move, Cassie set fire to a tablecloth, making it appear as though Tracy was responsible.

A bewildered Tracy woke up to the chaos, while Ken was livid with her for nearly setting the house ablaze. Cassie, on the other hand, was thrilled to see Tracy’s downfall.
However, amidst all the drama unfolding between Tracy and Cassie, viewers are speculating that it could culminate in a murder. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: “Bring back evil Tracy to kill Cassie.”
Another agreed, saying: “Think it’s going that way.” Echoing these sentiments, a third person commented: “100%.” Meanwhile, another reminded everyone: “She has form remember.”
