Meghan Markle ‘making huge return to acting’ nine years after her last role
The Duchess of Sussex is said to have been ‘swamped’ with offers and has now decided to return to acting in a new Amazon MGM Studios film alongside a string of A-list stars
Meghan Markle is making her comeback to acting nine years after her last role.
The Duchess of Sussex officially stepped away from her acting career when her romance with Prince Harry began to intensify. She gained recognition playing paralegal Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits from 2011 to 2018, with her final scenes shot the year prior to her departure.
And during the end of her acting stint, she also appeared on screen in the 2016 Hallmark Channel TV film, Dater’s Handbook, portraying Cassandra Brand.
However, sources now suggest she’s gearing up to return to her previous profession, joining stars like Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Brit Henry and Jack Quaid in the upcoming production Close Personal Friends.
Reports indicate the Duchess was spotted on set today in Pasadena, Los Angeles.
Despite her screen return, it’s understood she’ll be portraying herself in the Amazon MGM Studios picture, which centres on two couples – one celebrity pair and one ordinary couple.
An insider revealed to The Sun: “This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves.
“She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.
“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.”
The source also noted that everyone connected to the project has been pledged to confidentiality.
Meanwhile, her spouse, the Duke of Sussex, is reportedly incredibly supportive of his wife’s screen comeback and has been urging her to pursue “whatever brings her joy.”
