As America continues its countdown to a historic milestone, Freedom 250 is bringing communities together in celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.
UFC Fight Takes Place On White House Lawn
One of the most talked-about moments of the celebration arrived on June 14, when the South Lawn of the White House was transformed into an unprecedented sporting venue for the first UFC event ever held at the iconic location.
The historic fight card was first announced by UFC President Dana White in August 2025. White, a longtime friend and supporter of President Donald Trump, confirmed that plans were underway to stage a UFC event unlike anything fans had ever seen.
Although the date coincided with Flag Day and President Trump’s 80th birthday, administration officials insisted the scheduling was purely coincidental.
Adding to the spectacle, fighters were expected to make their entrances from the Oval Office itself, turning one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks into an unforgettable stage for combat sports.
Headlining UFC Freedom 250 was a blockbuster lightweight showdown between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, two elite competitors seeking to cement their dominance in the division. The card also featured a highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane.
Before the action inside the Octagon began, country music stars Zac Brown Band set the tone for the evening with a stirring performance of the National Anthem.
In the lead-up to the event, the group partnered with UFC on a limited-edition merchandise collection inspired by the intensity, passion, and raw energy of fight night.
Dressed in a patriotic striped suit and notably appearing without his trademark hat, Zac Brown took center stage alongside the United States Marine Band. With the White House serving as a dramatic backdrop, he delivered a powerful rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” that captivated the crowd.

As Brown reached the anthem’s final verse, the spectacle grew even more dramatic. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels thundered overhead in a breathtaking flyover, drawing roaring applause from thousands in attendance.
Among those celebrating the moment were UFC President Dana White and President Trump, who could be seen cheering side by side as the performance concluded.
The unforgettable opening ceremony perfectly blended patriotism, music, military tradition, and sports entertainment, creating a fitting centerpiece for one of the most ambitious celebrations leading up to America’s 250th anniversary.
